World religions poster
Your task will be to research your chosen religion using the internet (using reliable sources ONLY!). Your information will then be placed on a poster and presented to the class, if time allows before Winter Break!
Possible religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism
The purpose of this project is to explore the major religions that have influenced and shaped the history of the world. The information you will need to discover AND place on the poster is:
-Name of the religion
-Symbol(s) for the religion
-Year it began
-Founding person or group and/or prophet or messiah
-Holy Text
-Major beliefs
-Place of worship
-How many followers today?
-3 countries with the largest population for the religion
- Holidays/celebrations the religion practices (extra credit)
-In addition to drawing the symbol, include 2 pictures that represent the religion.
Your will be graded on the information provided, the quality of the poster, and your ability to be on task in class. The rubric on the back of this assignment sheet will be used to grade each student, not each group. If you are absent during research time you will be required to do the project on your own.
To find the majority of the information, you can use your journals and textbooks. Below are links to find the symbols and religious populations by country.
