Hello! Thank you for visiting my classroom website. On the site, you will find information about 6th grade social studies content. Before delving into the professional material, I'll tell you a little about myself!
I have always had a passion for traveling and it's likely because I moved a lot during my childhood. I've lived in Minnesota, Colorado, Missouri, and Kansas. I now claim Kansas as my "home" and plan to be here awhile. I graduated from Eudora High School and must have loved the area so much I couldn't leave! I attended the University of Kansas, getting a degree in Social Studies Education, and am now forever a part of Jayhawk Nation. For two years after college, I worked for a college-prep program called the KU Upward Bound Math and Science Center where I was an Academic Advisor serving students in the Kansas City, Kansas school district. As much as I loved the job, I missed the daily interaction with students.
Now, I am on a new adventure as a 6th grade social studies teacher and 7th grade volleyball coach. After completing my first year of teaching, I've learned how fun and exciting each day really is.
In my free time, I love hanging out with my husband, finding the best coffee shops around Lawrence, and getting caught up in shows on Netflix. However, my life truly changed when I became a mom in May 2014. Our beautiful son, Porter, brings so much joy and happiness to our lives each day. We loved having a baby around the house so much that we'll be expanding our family to four in 2016!!
